Every Good Engineer Has
A Tender Behind!
9/4/99 .... these 2 pics I have just put up show our new 55 gallon Stainless Steel custom built tender water tank I had contracted by Dick Treloar ... Which Dave Moeller & I just installed .... we have 2 - 5/8" water outlets from the bottom to the Steam Locomotive ... One being a lifting Penberthy Steam Injector (which we couldn't live without!) & a mechanical feed water pump that can only work while moving as a backup. the line into the top is a return line from the mechanical feed pump when we are not pumping water into the boiler with it. From the bottom we also have a 3/8th line to our hard plastic water gauge on the front of the tende which is easily visible. We can now do about 10 miles without stopping for water or propane if we is so wish.
Oh ... and you can also see the 24 gallon propane tank sitting in front of the water tank .... see comments on it too in the next couple of paragraphs.
The 2nd photo shows the really nice hard plastic & brass water gauge that I can thank Ray Bennett for putting on ... Replacing the simple but functional clear flexable water tube I had put in when I hooked up the new tank ... Ray is a stickler for detail & this hard one matches what we have in the locomotive in pyrex glass ..... I sure have GREAT FRIENDS .... that take care of me .... Ray is part of our special "STEAM TEAM!" as is Dave Moeller
Shown above here by the tender doing the lettering & filigree is Howard Zeller of Zeller Signs & Pinstriping ... Airbrush, Murals, Flames, Street Rods, etc. Howard is very well known in the Pacific NW. There is none better! .... (530) 246-7064
