I helped organize the 20th .. but due to old age and now running on
reserve don't have the energy anymore...so .. This website is it.
I will not be doing any DVD or CD's to show at the reunion.
Even if Becky and I can't make it for some reason I will post all the
Photos of it here on another couple post 50th pages.
I left home at 13yrs old and came to this boarding school for the full 4 years.
I worked year round and usually at two different jobs daily there ... $.39/hr.
The Dairy, th kitchen below the girls dorm (THE BEST!) and hall monitor, etc.
I was head of the underworld while also maintaining the reputation as
the quintessential preacher's kid and all around nice guy to most students &
faculty.
I could write a very funny, interesting book on those 4 years!
It was at this school where I developed my fierce and honest independencey, and
made a lot of wonderful friends! Guys and Gals!
These 4 years molded me into the person I am today .. It is and was a wonderful
Place to learn core values. Values that one does not have to be an SDA to
appreciate.

I am sure some of my old girl friends will agree (grin)
This photo may also have been from one of prof Frances's shows

Lynn Hoag was my room mate and best man at
Our wedding in Crescent City CA June 30, 1963
Lynn is one of the finest persons I have ever
met in my life & I am honored to have been
able to have known friends like him from SVA!

1959/60

When we built our Virgina style ranch home in 1976
we named our place Shenandoah West as shown above

THE SHENANDOAH HALL OF SHAME
Davey Boy the Hempster
Jenson Hall is where I spent my Freshman year ...Fond memories, head flushed
in camode by Senior Richard Crowther ... And later I rolled thousands of BB's
across his linoleum floor at 3 am and pounded on his door.. ouch that hurts
the bare feet!
I also short sheeted him with shaving cream deep down between the sheets. I
remember he blasted his feet right thru the folded part of the sheet! ..
Sweet!!! And ...He never found out who did it!
This is also where my room mate, Paul Rice wanted to bet on everything from
which fly would fly
first, to when he said the 5th car passing by would stop .. he ran into the
middle of the road waving his arms and almost got killed and I still won
as it slid sideways around him and kept going.
He once bet me $10 he would
jump off the middle roof of Jensen Hall .. he did and he won ... but ..
I made $50 betting other kids he would do it .. oh .. And he broke his leg ..
True story! .. And .. When I ran up to him the very 1st thing he said was
"PAY UP I WON!" (he was bummed when he found out I made more than he did).
Principle Akers may remember this one .. we were going home on break and I
Bet Paul $20 that if I stapled a $1 bill to a post card it would still be there
when it was delivered to me back at school. The bet was on! ..I wrote on the
post card .. to the postal employees ... I have bet $20 that this $1 bill will
still be on the card when it is delivered .. My friend said you guys are
dishonest .. I say you are honest! ..WHO WILL BE RIGHT? ...(I also stapled it
about a thousand times just to help things out!) We got back ... No post card
... We get called into Elder Akers office .. Betting is wrong boys! ... BUT ...
The Dollar was still on it ...and ... Paul did pay up afterwards too!
Paul also posted a top ten list of the best dressed girls on campus every week ..
I don't know if any of you girls remember this .. darn .. I wish I had thougt of it
to this very day ... man did he get the attention of every girl on campus!!!!!
And .. he got all of them to sign the cast on his leg .. really!
Paul hated boarding school from the first day because he had no T.V. .. He
knew all the shows .. T.V. and Betting was all he ever talked about! ..He
told me his folks had sent him there to get him away from his obsession with
T.V. (which was pretty new at the time). That was his only year there. Have
never heard from him again .... wonder why?
