Day Five - Thursday 07/30/09
Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad
World Wide Country Tours
Colorado's Vintage Railways

This Leadville diesel switcher engine ride is short but sweet in the sense that all the cars, etc. are just about the same as they were when the line originally closed ... They have a very friendly staff and a great character of a conductor. Russ & Ruth Duclos and Becky & I upgraded to the unimproved steel caboose but with a great view from the cupola.
This train will take you about 8 miles up into the Isabel National Forest right past Mt. Massive & Mt. Ebert the two tallest peaks in Colorado.

I also blew the horn at all the jeep crossings, two longs - a short - and a long. Since we upgraded to the caboose I was on the back portico leading the train up the hill .. plus we have our own (steam) railroad and am used to doing this. We were last on the way back down so the engineer blew it from up front in the engine.
