I am happy to announce that Becky & I "Doc Hemp" will be attending these events. We also have the privilege of being in the pits with our friends, Joe Wong, Shawn Price (the 2004 Datona 24hr. winner) and Paul Camusi all driving new Porsche 997's in the GT3 Challenge on Friday the 17th.... Joe is driving car #41.... Shawn is driving car #40 and both are with team Farnbacher Loles Racing. Paul is in car #71 and is with Team TRG (The Racing Group). And their friends Wolf Henzler and Peter Goebel the owner of Fanbacher Racing will be there also. Wolf will be driving in the World Challenge series I think.
10/07/05 .... We will now be spending a lot more of our time down at the old Sears Point ... Now the new, lengthened and fantastic "Infineon Raceway"! .... Instead of mostly at our home track ..Thunderhill Raceway in Willows.
Yesterday I got to spend the whole day at Infineon Raceway with some of my racing buddies Joe Wong, Mark Emerson, Shawn Price and support crew Chuck Reed, Shawn Baranardi, Vern Haddox and Frank Bramante ... Where we all worked with Peter Gobel and ... Wolf Henzler... The world's fastest GT3 Porsche Race Car driver ever! ... I also took over 250 Photos today of car set ups, friends, etc to show what it's like at a full practice day with Peter Goebel and Wolf Henzler at Infineon Raceway and to give all involved a chance to see themselves, the setups, crew, friends, cars, etc. because we don't usually have the luxury of enough time and relaxation to photograph during racing conditions. These will be left as a type of photo journal or diary for future reference as are most of our other sites ... some 10 years old now.
Shawn Price ... BTR .. "Born To Race!" ... Shawn has been racing at a world-class level in many other sports for most of his life. Until his win at Daytona, Price was probably best known as a motorcycle racer. He finished 4th in the 2002 Baja 500 race in Mexico and followed that up with 1st place in the 2002 Baja 1000. In 2003, Price was the top rider from the Americas to complete the world-famous Paris-Dakar Rally on a motorcycle, riding over 7,000 miles in the grueling African desert in only 19 days.
Shawn owns his own company and still finds time to now race professioanlly too. It is a pleasure to be able to count him as a friend ... Or ... At least he puts up with me .... ( ; > )
Joe hand painted this model to match his full sized car he raced this season in the GT3 Cup Series which he finished very well in .. ... He still has the artistic touch!
