First one made in 1971

I came up with my 1st one of these in early 1971 to replace a patients gingival
tissue lost in a car accident.
Thinking I might have something new, I checked the literature
and found a dentist made one out of dark brown vulcanite rubber in 1943!
There are a couple of tricks to making mine.
I made many before I came up with a perfect one.
- You must block out of wax all deep undercuts in the mouth;
- Make a custom horseshoe tray and take the impression from
the facial instead of occlusal;
- After it returns from the lab, each one must be custom
finished paper thin and polished by you and adjusted
with the patient present;
- The patient must keep the model it was made on to repair it!
Or, you must start over. These are too thin to repair otherwise.
Reminder: Some of the Accucam photos are mirror images so left looks like right. THERE ARE 4 SETS OF TABLES!
